Mantra singing, Kirtan and heart songs
Mantra (Sanskrit मन्त्र ) is a sacred utterance, a numinous sound, a syllable, word or phonemes, or group of words in Sanskrit, Pali and other languages which has a religious, or spiritual significance. It is a way to pray but also to calm and clear the mind, by flooding it with a repeated word or verse. Hannah has been working with mantra as a practice for around 10 years.
Hannah has been a part of various kirtana groups for over 10 years and has had the blessing of leading kirtan herself with the harmonium, and support singing for world-renowned kirtan professionals.
She is keenly rediscovering her musical roots, having sung in choirs and played violin and viola before quitting writing and playing music in her late teens. In 2017, Jyoti Leela co-founded the collective Valley Kirtaniyas, a group of musicians and yoga practitioners with whom she offers kirtan in Dornbirn and the Rheintal.
